This unisex, lined multi-sport short is designed for women who run, hike, cycle, train, climb, kayak, swim, travel, and spend their time outdoors. A 5-inch inseam, built-in performance brief liner, 4-way stretch shell, and dual exterior zipper pockets combine the versatility of running shorts, hiking shorts, cycling shorts, and lightweight adventure shorts in one original design.
Dual Reflective Outside Zipper Pockets
Two 6-inch reflective exterior zipper pockets provide secure, easy-access storage for a phone, keys, running gels, and other small essentials. Moving storage to the outside of the short helps keep items accessible whether you're running trails, hiking, riding a bike, training at the gym, or commuting around town. Reflective pocket detailing adds a functional low-light element for early-morning and evening adventures.
4-Way Stretch Quick-Dry Performance Shell
The lightweight yet durable poly/spandex performance shell features 4-way stretch for freedom of movement across a wide range of activities. Moisture-wicking and quick-dry performance helps manage sweat and moisture, while roomy leg openings provide additional mobility for running, hiking, cycling, squats, lunges, climbing, and other active pursuits.
Built-In Quick-Dry Brief Liner
An integrated moisture-wicking performance brief liner provides comfortable support and coverage without requiring a separate liner. The smooth, quick-dry construction makes these versatile lined 5-inch shorts equally suited for running, hiking, gym workouts, cycling, kayaking, swimming, and other multi-sport adventures.
US-Made Paracord Drawstring
A rugged US-made paracord drawstring provides an adjustable and secure fit. The signature cord was sourced from a veteran-owned business and manufactured by a United States government contractor, with each drawstring individually finished.
Designed with unisex sizing, the TrailStash™ provides women with a versatile alternative to traditional running shorts, hiking shorts, and bulky cargo shorts. Designer Commentary
I originally began designing the TrailStash™ short in 2015 with ultrarunning and hiking in mind. I wanted a performance short with functional exterior storage that could carry the things I actually needed on longer adventures without relying on traditional inside pockets.
After several revisions and plenty of testing, I realized the design worked for much more than running. The exterior pockets made the shorts especially useful for casual cycling and gravel rides when I didn't want to wear a complete cycling kit. They're also a practical option for commuters and recreational cyclists who want lightweight performance shorts without traditional padded cycling bibs.
I've logged 20+ mile runs in the TrailStash™ and have even carried cycling cage-sized water bottles in the side pockets. I typically partially fill a bottle and carry it on one side with my phone in the opposite pocket. That real-world testing helped shape the size, placement, and function of the exterior pocket system.
The concept is almost like a modern performance version of the traditional utility cargo short — useful exterior storage without the extra fabric and bulk. The lightweight technical shell and streamlined profile also make the TrailStash™ casual enough to wear beyond running and training.
Roomier leg openings were intentional. During development, I wanted enough freedom of movement for running without excessive rubbing around the thighs while also accommodating athletes with larger legs. That extra mobility has made them useful for hiking, cycling, gym workouts, squats, lunges, climbing, kayaking, swimming, and plenty of other outdoor activities.
The TrailStash™ represents what I wanted Runyon to be from the beginning: more than a running brand. It's outdoor fitness apparel designed for people who want to stay active, spend time outside, and wear original products made here in the United States.
