The Runyon Rad AF Reflective Performance Camp Hat takes our reflective running hat concept to another level with highly reflective top panels and a reflective bill. Originally inspired by Runyon's Rad Reflective Camp Hat Series launched in 2013, the Rad AF version was created for runners, hikers, and outdoor athletes looking for a lightweight performance hat with bold reflectivity and increased visibility when illuminated.
Unlike a traditional running cap with only a small reflective logo or accent, the Rad AF incorporates reflective material across the upper panels and visor, creating a much larger reflective surface. When exposed to headlights and other direct light sources, these panels reflect light back for increased visibility during early-morning runs, evening workouts, trail adventures, and other low-light activities.
To balance the more substantial reflective upper construction, each hat features airy micro-mesh side panels that promote airflow around the head. A built-in moisture-wicking sweatband helps manage perspiration, while lightweight technical performance fabrics make the Rad AF comfortable for running, trail running, hiking, training, camping, and everyday outdoor wear.
The classic flat-bill camp hat design combines lightweight athletic construction with the distinctive reflective top and visor, creating a performance hat that's functional during training while standing apart from conventional running caps. Whether you're logging miles before sunrise, finishing a trail run around sunset, hiking, or training outdoors, the Rad AF adds a highly reflective element to your performance gear.
Each Rad AF Reflective Camp Hat is produced in very small batches, with the reflective panels individually handcrafted as part of the construction process. These limited-edition hats are designed, cut, and sewn in the USA, combining technical performance materials, American craftsmanship, and one of Runyon's most distinctive reflective designs.

Designer Commentary
I've always liked incorporating reflective materials into performance apparel, especially when they can become part of the actual design rather than simply adding a small reflective detail. The Rad AF Reflective Camp Hat takes that idea further by using reflective material across both the top panels and the bill.
The concept evolved from our earlier Rad Reflective Camp Hats, including the Radiant Space Camp Hat. With Rad AF, I wanted to create something even more distinctive: a performance camp hat where the reflective material wasn't just an accent — it became a major part of the hat itself.
The biggest difference is immediately noticeable when light hits it. Instead of relying only on a reflective emblem or individual detail, the reflective top and visor provide a much larger reflective surface. Headlights and other direct light sources illuminate the material and create a bright reflective effect that's especially noticeable during early-morning and evening runs.
Using more reflective material presented another challenge: breathability. That's why we incorporated airy mesh side panels into the design. The open mesh allows additional airflow around the sides of the head while the reflective material covers the upper portion of the hat.
I tested these hats running in everything from daylight to early mornings and sunset hours. What stood out was how dramatically the reflective material responds to direct light. That combination of reflectivity, breathable side panels, lightweight construction, and moisture management makes the Rad AF unlike any other camp hat we've produced.
Each hat is also a special boutique piece. The reflective panels required additional hands-on work during production, and because of the time and materials involved, we produced the Rad AF in very small quantities.
We wanted to make something unique, functional, and unmistakably different — not just Rad, but Rad AF.
