Built for daily training, long-distance running, and race day, the Runyon SupraPlush™ 5” Running Short with 2-In-1 Compression Liner combines a lightweight performance outer shell with a supportive nylon/spandex compression liner. The 5-inch inseam provides freedom of movement for running and training, while moisture-wicking, quick-drying fabrics help keep the shorts comfortable through daily miles, speed workouts, marathon training, trail runs, and demanding gym sessions.

The integrated SupraPlush™ four-way stretch compression liner provides close-to-body support and helps reduce friction and chafing during longer runs. Made from premium nylon/spandex performance fabric, the liner stretches naturally with your stride while providing the secure fit runners expect from a premium 2-in-1 running short.

Four functional pockets give the SupraPlush™ substantially more storage than a traditional running short. Dual compression liner side pockets securely hold a phone, energy gels, nutrition, keys, cards, and other running essentials close to the body to help minimize movement and bounce. The lightweight outer shell adds two outside side pockets for convenient storage before and after training or when wearing the shorts casually.

The lightweight performance outer shell provides breathable comfort and unrestricted movement without adding unnecessary bulk. Combined with the stretchy compression liner, comfortable elastic waistband, and adjustable drawcord, the result is a versatile 5-inch lined running short designed for road running, trail running, marathon training, strength training, HIIT, cross training, and everyday active wear.

Every pair is handcrafted in Los Angeles, California, using premium Made in USA materials and components. The performance textiles, nylon/spandex liner fabric, elastics, waistband materials, and drawcords are domestically produced, combining American manufacturing with the technical performance required for serious training and endurance sports.

SupraPlush™ Collection

The SupraPlush™ Collection, introduced in 2022, features premium Made in USA nylon/spandex and performance textiles engineered for running, training, gym workouts, and endurance sports. Originally launched with our SupraPlush™ Performance Boxer Brief, the collection focuses on supportive four-way stretch, moisture management, quick-drying performance, and next-to-skin comfort.

SupraPlush™ garments are designed, engineered, and field-tested by endurance athletes and handcrafted in Los Angeles using domestically produced textiles and components. The result is performance apparel designed for demanding training while supporting American textile manufacturing and craftsmanship.

Designer Commentary

I started developing this short in early 2025 with a 7-inch inseam. After testing that first version, I decided it was longer than I wanted for a performance running short and began refining both the inseam and the nylon/spandex compression liner pockets to create a more secure fit for phones, keys, nutrition, and other running essentials.

The second version moved to a 6-inch inseam. I ran the San Francisco Marathon in July 2025 wearing that version, carrying my phone securely in one compression liner pocket and energy gels in the other. The shorts performed exceptionally well, but after the marathon I decided a 5-inch inseam provided the best balance of coverage and freedom of movement. I made that change along with a few final refinements to the compression liner and pocket specifications.

The outer shell uses the same side-pocket concept found on the Pump-You-Up™ 7" Sweatshorts and Scoutster™ 5" Adventure Short. These outside side pockets add everyday versatility and are useful for carrying a wallet, phone, shirt, water bottle, or other gear before, during, and after training.

The outer shell is made from a lightweight double-knit polyester performance textile that's exceptionally light, breathable, and comfortable. It isn't intended to have the same abrasion resistance as a heavier traditional woven trail-running fabric, so a little extra care is recommended around rough surfaces and abrasive terrain.

Personally, I often run with a half-full or empty water bottle in one outer pocket and a shirt or tank top in the other, while keeping my phone and keys securely stored in the dual compression liner pockets. I've even carried a water bottle in one of the liner pockets during runs. While that's not their intended purpose, it demonstrates how useful and spacious the pockets can be.

Think of the SupraPlush™ as a 2-in-1 running short that combines the close-to-body support and storage of compression shorts with the lightweight coverage and everyday versatility of an outer performance short. It's built for long runs and marathon training but works equally well for speed workouts, strength training, gym sessions, travel, and everyday active wear.

After nearly a year and a half of design, prototyping, field testing, and production, I'm excited to introduce the Runyon SupraPlush™ 5" Running Short with 2-In-1 Compression Liner. From the performance textiles and compression liner to the elastics and drawcords, we built these shorts using Made in USA materials, components, and labor.
