Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife Rewilding Mulholland and Laurel Canyon

To celebrate Earth Day we’re excited to announce $2,500 contributed this year to Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife (CLAW), a local wildlife charity we’ve partnered with as a recipient of our $1 Wild Buck donations.

Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife (CLAW) held another re-wilding event this past Saturday to see CLAW’s seeding efforts of 2022 with a local super bloom!

Volunteers weeded around the 100 plant and sprouted nuts at their re-wilding project site at the intersection of Mulholland and Laurel Canyon.

Thousands Donated To Protect Wildlife & Open Space

Last year we donated thousands to protect wildlife and open space through $1 Wild Buck, where $1 of every item sold is donated to various charities throughout the year. Here is the break-down:

$1,000 – Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife

Local wildlife charity that raises awareness of urban wildlife, fights for legislation and protects land.

$1,000 – Ojai Raptor Center

Local wildlife charity that rehabs and releases wild birds in Southern California

$250 – Sierra Wildlife Rescue

Wildlife charity in the Sierra Nevada Mountains that rehabs and releases wild animals from birds to foxes and more.

On this Giving Tuesday, we are proud to donate $1,000 from our $1 Wild Buck Campaign to the Ojai Raptor Center in Ventura County, California. The Ojai Raptor Center is a fully functional and permitted wildlife rehabilitation center that specializes in helping birds of prey. Every year the Center takes in 1,000 to 1,500 sick, injured or orphaned birds with the aim of rehabilitating and releasing them back to the wild. The Center also takes in a number of non-raptor birds as well as some mammals.

We are excited to support the Ojai Raptor Center’s important cause in protecting and restoring our wildlife. In addition to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, the Center promotes scientific discoveries that aid conservation efforts, and works to educate and inspire the community to become stewards of our environment. On the education front, the Center works to educate the community on such issues as the dangers of using poison, rat bait, and boxes to wildlife up and down the food chain and the harm of tree trimming in the wrong way and wrong time of year.

Donation made to Liberty Canyon Wildlife Crossing to Save LA Cougars!

Thanks everyone that purchased Runyon gear this year. We are happy to announce a One Wild Buck donation to Save LA Cougars, an effort by the National Wildlife Federation to save wildlife in the Los Angeles area.

SaveLACougars is working to build the Liberty Canyon Wildlife Crossing to help our little furry friends like Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Deer and even those cute little annoying squirrels to cross the 8 lane spread of the 101 Freeway.

You know they never stood a chance….you should try it for yourself!

Donating to this cause is considered “An Investment in the Future of Urban Wildlife — for the Los Angeles Area and the World.”

Over the years too many Mountain Lions, Bobcats and other critters have been struck by motorists. These majestic animals are very important to protect in an urban sprawling place like Los Angeles. We must protect the wild before it goes extinct.

The Liberty Canyon Wildlife Crossing Project will:

Save a population of mountain lions from extinction.
Reconnect an entire ecosystem for all wildlife.
Set a worldwide model for urban wildlife conservation.
Create a conservation legacy for the next century.
Be the LARGEST Wildlife Crossing in the world

Making a donation will fund:

Mountain Lion & Wildlife Research
Cross engineering, design and construction
Conservation Education Outreach & Communal Engagement
Crossing Habitat Maintenance

SaveLACougars has raised more than $72 Million of their goal of $85 Million. Looks like construction will begin soon.
